Dr Srivastava is the Lead Clinician for Pain Management at Raigmore Hospital. In this lecture, he will be taking you over the the recent updates on practice points in Opioid prescribing. He trained as a Macmillan Pain Management fellow at the Walton Centre for Neurology and Neurosurgery,Liverpool.He is a committee member of the Acute Pain group of Scottish Acute Pain Society and British Pain Society. His interests include post surgical Acute pain management and Interventional pain medicine for chronic pain.

Dr Cathy Stannard is a Consultant in Pain Medicine in Frenchay Hospital,Bristol and was the UK Chair of Consensus Group and Editor of the British Pain Society publication ‘Opioids for persistent pain: Good practice’. Through three interactive case scenarios,she answers some of important questions associated with their long term use such as:
Role of opioids in back pain with radicular pain [sciatica].
Patient with multiple pain complaints with previous emotional trauma and abuse
Challenges of assessment when concerns have been raised about diversion.
